THE CHRISTMAS TAG!

I have finally returned from my little hiatus and feeling particularly festive, so when I found this tag on Angelicas' blog I was pretty desperate to do one of my own. Besides, what better way to kick off this festive season on Dear You Love Em than a festive tag? It also gives me a chance to show you all pictures of my very small (but loved nonetheless) tree!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS FILM?
Without a doubt it would have to be Love Actually. I recently tried to watch Elf because I had heard such great reviews in the blogging world but as hilarious as it was, nothing can beat some good old Hugh Grant and Colin Firth fun!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FESTIVE COLOUR?
I think I might just cheat and say my favourite is anything glittery because to me nothing screams christmas and the new year than glitter. I am currently wearing Sally Hanson Razzle Dazzler on my nails (post about it will come soon!). It is glittery and because of the light brown/nude colour it goes perfectly with every outfit. What more could you ask for?

DO YOU OPEN YOUR GIFTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE OR CHRISTMAS MORNING?
When I was younger, I used to wake up at around 5am and then pretend to 'accidentally' drop heavy objects in my room so that my parents asleep next door would wake up and we could open all the presents straight away. These days however we usually wait till the afternoon after Christmas lunch to exchange presents - madness I know! The little kid inside me is still upset about this.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE WINTER FRAGRANCE?
This is a little tricky considering I live in Australia and thus it is actually Summer right now, but regardless, my favourite Winter perfume for the last few years has been Calvin Kleins 'Beauty' which is a really lovely warm scent which is a little bit fruity and just stays on the skin for a long time so those around you get sneaky whiffs throughout the day as you walk by.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SCENT?
Possibly the most unoriginal answer in the world but I love the smell of gingerbread. I am determined to find time in the next chaotic (all of those working in retail will understand) couple of days to make a gingerbread house/gingerbread men before christmas! I will keep you posted with photos on twitter and instagram if I am successful! @dearyouloveem

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FESTIVE DRINK?
Now those out there who are big fans of the Christmas Beverages might go a little crazy at my answer, but seeing as its summer my favourite festive drink is usually a nice cold Lemon Lime and Bitters. Thats right folks, none of these fancy Hot Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes for us down under.

CANDY CANES OR GINGERBREAD MEN?
Gingerbread men! Although back in the day, getting Candy canes with christmas cards from friends at school was certainly one of the best feelings.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?

John Lennons 'Happy Christmas (War is Over)' is undeniably a bit of a slow one but no matter how I am feeling, it just makes me realise that this is the end of another year and to really enjoy myself regardless of how stressful life at this time can all get.

HAVE YOU EVER MADE A SNOWMAN?
Yes I have, but I was 3 (and lets be honest, I probably did nothing useful to the construction of the said snowman) and living in Japan at the time. Making a snowman would be fun though at this time of the year but considering the weather we never really get snow here even in Winter so it doesn't seem like it will happen in the near future.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU ABOUT CHRISTMAS?
Without getting painfully cheesy on you, I love that Christmas brings people together. Not just families, but communities singing christmas carols or friends exchanging presents. It really is just a nice time of the year where we can all take a communal big breath out and appreciate another year passing.

  1. I enjoyed reading your answers! It's good to see the different variations of Christmas as it is different from person to person... I certainly couldn't wait until after Christmas lunch to open my presents! I'm clearly still a big kid. Haha. Family time is definitely my favourite thing about the holidays... Closely followed by food!
I hope you enjoy your Christmas! And thanks for stopping by my blog!
    :-)
